Charger girls win seventh-place game at Prophetstown

A 56-49 overtime win over the Prophetstown JV?gave Orion seventh place at the Lady Prophet invitational on Wednesday, Dec. 30, in Prophetstown.

Led by Megan Blumenshein’s 24 points, the Chargers improved to 6-9. Blumenshein sparked the overtime effort with 10 of Orion’s 12 points.

“It seems like we’ve got to get down 10 points before we start playing,” Orion coach John McBride said.

The Chargers led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter, only to fall behind 27-17 by halftime. During the second half, they slashed at their deficit until they forced a 44-44 tie at the end of regulation.

Orion outscored the hosts 12-5 in overtime.
