Lady Cats go 2-2 in Erie invite

Galva rallied from an early 11-2 deficit to beat Mercer County 34-33 and go 2-2 at the Warkins Cardinal Classic in Erie on Dec. 30.
Galva outscored MC 17-2 in the second frame to lead 19-13 at the half.
Macy Droege topped Galva (3-13) with 10 points.
“We didn’t shoot the ball overly well and we got into a little bit of foul trouble, but girls played hard and overcame that,” explained Galva Coach Jeremy Trill.
The win came two days after Galva routed University of Chicago Charter School-Woodlawn 55-7 in second-round action.
“We pushed the ball well, ran our transition,” said Trill. “Our defense made good rotations and we rebounded fairly well.”
Galva opened the tourney falling to Erie 57-21 on Dec. 26. The Lady Cardinals used a 16-4 spurt in the third quarter to break open the contest from a 27-15 halftime bulge.
In their other tourney game, the Lady Cats dropped a Dec. 29 contest to Monmouth-Roseville 54-39.
