Spartans topple Pearl City

    By the end of the Prophetstown Tournament played over the holiday break, the Ridgewood Spartans varsity girls basketball team had improved its overall season record to 15-1. 

    The one loss came on the second game of the tournament. Riverdale defeated Ridgewood 61-57.  Previously, Ridgewood defeated Riverdale twice, with the last game Ridgewood defeating Riverdale on a last second, buzzer beating shot by Amanda Kruger on Dec. 18.

   During the tournament, Ridgewood played the Prophetstown junior varsity team on Saturday, Dec. 26.  The final score in favor of the Spartans was 48-33.  Next the girls played two games on Monday, Dec. 28.  The first game, against Riverdale, had a final score of 57-61.  For the second game of the day, the Ridgewood team put the loss behind them and defeated Hall by a score of 60-45.  The following day, on the 29th, the girls team faced Pearl City,  winning by a narrow margin of 42-37.  The team finished the tournament beating Lena-Winslow by a score of 50-42.
