Galva 8th graders take 2 - including 1 over rival Geese
The Galva eighth grade boys basketball team went 2-2 in the past week, including three games in the Costa Tournament, held Dec. 26-30 in Galesburg.
The first tourney game saw the Bobcats take on a tough Rock Island Washington team, who won 72-25. Galva was led by David Jeffries with 10 points. Dexter Ingels had 7.
The Bobcats’ second game came in the loser’s bracket against Jordan, the other Rock Island entry. Despite Jordan’s Mihm scoring 12 of his game-high 28 points, Galva held on for a 43-40 win to advance to the consolation championship. Jeffries finished with 18 points and Ingels had 17.
On Monday, the Cats hosted Wethersfield, wanting to avenge last year’s only conference defeat. They did just that, winning 46-42.
