Geneseo 11U finishes season at regionals

Geneseo’s 11-year old Cal Ripken baseball team traveled to Niles, Mich. to compete in the Ohio Valley Regional July 23-26.

The team went 2-1 in pool play and was later ousted from the single-elimination tournament by Indiana foe Newburgh.

In pool play, Geneseo suffered an opening round loss to South East Lexington, Ky. by a score of 11-1.

After a rain delay and having Saturday’s games postponed, Geneseo bounced back on Sunday to beat Brandywine, Mich., 13-3 and Whiteland, Ind., 11-3.

Geneseo drew a No. 6 seed in tournament play which pitted them against Newburgh, who defeated Geneseo, 6-3.

Competing in the Ohio Valley Regional included squads from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky,?West Virginia, Ohio and Michigan.
