Orion cross country runs at Sherrard meet

Orion’s Ashley Anderson finished seventh at the Sherrard cross country meet on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

It was a cool afternoon for the 2.9-mile race, which 63 girls finished.

Anderson clocked 20 minutes, 20 seconds.

Ann Samuelson and Tara Gambon finished within 20 seconds of each other. Samuelson was 14th at 21:37, while Gambon was 16th at 21:35.

Also scoring for Orion were Kaila Lange, 28th at 22:56, and Natalie Jacobson, 37th at 24:13.

Chargers on the course included Kyndal Wallarab, 46th, 25:31, and Shea Sievers, 48th, 25:34.

Annawan-Wethersfield finished first with 38 points; Sherrard, second, 62; Alleman, third, 74; Mid-County, fourth, 98; Orion, fifth, 99; and Rockridge, sixth, 124.

Runners from Mercer County and Ridgewood also participated.

Among the 72 runners in the boys’ race, Greg Hartsfield finished 23rd at 18:15; John Fielding, 51st at 20:04; and Cole Unzicker, 72nd at 31:34.

Sherrard claimed first with 34 points, ahead of Annawan-Wethersfield, 47; Alleman, 74; Mid-County, 115; Rockridge, 129; Ridgewood, 136; and Mercer County, 191.
