Mid-County shuts out Ridgewood in varsity football

    The Mid-County football team kept its playoffs chances alive with a 20-0 win over Lincoln Trail Conference foe Ridgewood on Friday, Oct. 8.

    The Cougars scored in the first quarter off 5-yard Jesse Humphrey for a 7-0 halftime lead. Mid-County scored again in the third of a 40-yard pass from Kenny Fogerty to Colton Kelly and a 14-0 lead after three. The Cougars final score came off a 40-yard run by Kelly in the fourth.

    Mid-County had 397 total yards, 267 off 58 carries in rushing and 130 by air. Ridgewood was held to 129 total yards, 61-yards of 15 carries and 68 passing yards. Fogerty led the ground and air attack with 101 rushing-yards off 18 attempts and threw for the 130 yards for Mid-County.

    Mid-County improved to 4-3 with the win and travels to West Central Friday, while Ridgewood slips to 1-6 and hosts Stark County this week. Senior football players, cross country runners and members of the Cambridge and AlWood bands will be recognized before the start of the game.
