Stark County softball plays Ridgewood in doubleheader

    The Spartan softball team hosted Stark County in Alpha Saturday, April 30, playing a double header.

    In game one, the Rebels scored early and often leading 12-1 going into the bottom of the fifth. The Spartans came up with their best at bat in the fifth sending eight players to the plate, collecting five singles and scoring three runs, making it a 12-4 game with the Rebels in command.

    The game lasted one more inning with Ridgewood unable to stop Stark County from coming up with a 10-run rule which shortened the game after six innings, 15-5.

    Kelsey Speer had a two hit game.

    Dani Lessard took the loss.

    In game two it was all Stark County with Elizabeth Hippen throwing a three-hit shutout against the Spartans and winning the contest 16-0 in a five inning shortened game due to the 10-run mercy rule.

    Having the lone hits for Ridgewood were Ella Teel, Speer and Madison Miller.

    Miller took the loss for Ridgewood.
