Smith paces Ridgewood girls' track with three wins at Bureau Valley

    Molly Smith led the Ridgewood girls track team during a triangular meet with Bureau Valley and Galva Monday, April 25.

    Smith won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.25 seconds, the 200-m dash with a time of 28.37 and the 300-m hurdles with a time of 50.8.

    Overall, Ridgewood finished second in the meet with Bureau Valley winning.

    “It was a great meet,” said coach Kim Jansen. “We had six girls who had personal bests.”

    The relay team of Alexa Anderson, Becca Sack, Katie Stevenson and Morgyn Britt placed second in the 3200-m relay with a time of 14:25.55.

    In the 400-m relay event, the team of Brooklyn Wexell, Kaitlyn Able, Hailey Clark and Kalli Humphrey placed third with a time of 1:00.55.

    Caitie Allen placed fifth in the 100-m hurdles with a time of 23.44.

    Brooklyn Wexell had a personal best in the 100-m dash with a time of 14.85. She placed fourth.

    Jessica Nail and Katie Stevenson took second and sixth, respectively in the 800-m run. They had times of 2:39.84 and 3:15.71.

    Ridgewood teams took second and fourth in the 800-m relay. The team of Humphrey, Anderson, Hailey Clark and Aly Smith had a time of 2:07.01. The team of Kelly Franck, Kendall McKie, Mejia Mercedis and Brooklyn Wexell finished with a time of 2:11.48.

    Jessica Nail and Savannah Walker took second and fifth in the 1600-m run with times of 6:39.00 and 8:52.00, respectively.

    Aly Smith placed second in the 200-m dash with a time of 30.26 and Humphrey finished fourth with a time of 30.44, a personal best for her.

    The 1600-m relay team of Franck, McKie, Stevenson and  Alexa Anderson finished fourth with a time of 5:15.72.

    Two personal bests were set in the girls long jump. Franck took second with a leap of 13-5 1/4 and Haley Schmoll placed third with 12-7 1/2.

    Aly Smith won the girls triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 29-10 1/2, a personal best. Humphrey finished fifth with 26-4.

    Jasmine Jefko and Hannah Garrett finished second and fourth, respectively, in the shot put with throws of 28-10 1/2 and 25-6 3/4. Sammi Stevenson and Chelsea Mitro came in seventh and eighth. Their throws were 22-3 1/4 and 22-1 1/2.

    Ridgewood placed sixth, seventh and eighth in the discus throw. Garrett led the pack with a throw of 58-5 1/2. Stevenson finished with 57-3 and Mitro had 55-11 1/2.
