Kylie Speer pitches during an earlier game this year. Speer is one of three pitchers for the Ridgewood Spartans. Dani Lessard and Andrea Engle also pitch for the team.

On  Tuesday, May 3, the Ridgewood softball team took the long bus ride to Colchester to take on West Prairie in conference play.

The Spartans made the trip worth their while, coming home with the 5-2 victory.  The girls scored three times in the top of the fifth to help lock things down going up 5-0 at that point.  Ella Teel, Ashley Kruger and Emalee Brink recorded two hits each. The rest of the line up came through with a hit each giving the girls 12 hits for the night.  Dani Lessard picked up the win for Ridgewood.

On Friday, May 6, the girls traveled to play one of the top teams and one of the best pitchers in the state.  Katie Bertelsen showed why she’s one of the best in throwing another no-hitter while striking out 13.  The only base runner for Ridgewood was due to a hit by pitch variety.  The Red Storm won a 10 run five inning mercy rule game 14-0.
