Lady Leafs fall to Pioneers

After upsetting the No. 1 team in the regional to advance to the regional championship, the Geneseo girls' basketball team's run came to an end Feb. 14 against Alleman, 43-36.
The Pioneers took the 10-5 lead in the first quarter, and outscored Geneseo 10-7 in the second for the 20-12 advantage at the half.
Geneseo responded in the third quarter as the girls put up 10 points and held Alleman to five to cut the Pioneers' lead to 25-22.
Alleman sealed the victory in the fourth quarter with 18 points, while Geneseo scored 14.
Molly DeBrock led the Lady Leafs with nine points as she drained 7-of-10 from the free-throw line and a field goal.
Anna Wise and Jamie DeFauw both scored eight points for Geneseo, both girls hit three shots from the field and two free throws; while Emily Ford added five points off two field goals and a free throw.
Rachel Ganson finished the game with four points on two field goals, while Darci Dietrich scored two points on a field goal.
The Lady Leafs finish the season at 14-16 overall and 5-5 in the NIB 12.
