Meet the Wildcats will introduce athletes to public

The winter version of “Meet the Wildcats” will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Galva High School gym.

GHS winter sports athletes and others will be introduced to the crowd, and basketball scrimmages will be held.

Admission price is a canned food donation for the Galva Food Pantry.

At 5:45 p.m., the girls varsity and junior varsity basketball teams will warm up. They will be introduced to the crowd at 6 p.m.

At 6:05 p.m., girls basketball scrimmages will begin. The junior varsity will play one 10-minute quarter, with a running clock. The varsity will then play one 15-minute quarter, with a running clock.

A special “half-time” session will be held, beginning at 6:25 p.m. with the dance/drill team being introduced and then performing.

The Galva Athletic Booster Club will then make several special presentations, including honoring the following:

• Makayla Wood – first-team all-state softball player.

• Grace Clucas and Payton Weston – third-team all-state softball players.

• Caelin Foley – Lincoln Trail Conference cross country individual champion.

• 2014-2015 eighth grade boys basketball team – Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament champions.

• 2014-2015 eighth grade girls basketball team – Lincoln Trail Conference undefeated champions.

High school boys basketball activities will begin at 6:35 p.m., with the varsity and junior varsity teams warming up. At 6:45 p.m., they will be introduced to the crowd.

Boys basketball scrimmages begin at 6:50 p.m., with the junior varsity playing one 10-minute quarter, with a running clock.

GHS cheerleaders will then be introduced and perform floor cheers before the varsity boys basketball team plays two 8-minute quarters, with a running clock.
