Tigers maul Leafs at State Farm

Wheaton Warrenville South’s offense caught fire in the first half, and Geneseo couldn’t keep pace in the opening round of the State Farm Holiday Classic.

The Tigers defeated the Lady Leafs 50-31, and Wheaton Warrenville South led 35-13 at halftime in the game played at Bloomington Central Catholic Gym on Dec. 27.

With some of the best teams in the state of Illinois in the field, Geneseo was plagued by ice cold shooting.

The Lady Leafs who finished 12-of-38 from the field, including 2-of-11 from 3-point range.

The Lady Leafs’ Sydney Himmelman and Maddie Mackey each finished with a team-high eight points.

The Leafs’ Kendra Snider scored four points, and Anna McAvoy finished with three points.

Melanie Parker, Heather Dietrich, Lindsey Francque and Jane Thomas each scored two points.

Following the conclusion of the State Farm Holiday Classic Tournament, the Leafs will start the New Year at home against Sycamore on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.
