Maple Leafs fall in NIB 12 opener on the court

The Maple Leafs’ continued to work their way into form during the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference opener against Ottawa on Nov. 30.

Ottawa used a second-half surge to hand Geneseo a 68-43 defeat. The Pirates outscored the Maple Leafs 37-20 in the second half to ice the game in Ottawa.

Geneseo’s Isaiah Rivera scored a game-high 22 points and made three 3-pointers.

Geneseo made 16 buckets from the floor with a total of seven 3-pointers.

Tim Lehman scored six points, and Jacob McConnell finished with five points.

P.J. Moser tacked on four points, and Charles Clauson finished with three points.

The Leafs’ Joseph McConnell added two points, and Kade Ariano made 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

It was announced the Geneseo Maple Leafs will play Davenport North in the 25th Genesis Shootout.

The battle between the Iowa and Illinois teams will tip off at Augustana’s Carver Center at 11:30 a.m.
