Lady Leafs win Rock Falls title

The Lady Leafs competed in their first tournaments of the season.
Metamora Golf Classic
The Lady Leafs finished runner-up behind Bloomington Central Catholic at Metamora Field Golf Course on Aug. 14.
Among a 15-team field, Geneseo finished with a team score of 350 as Central Catholic ran away with the team title (317).
Pontiac’s Ali Schrock fired a 68 to earn medalist honors, and Jenna Cheek led the Lady Leafs with a 77.
Geneseo’s Elizabeth Roodhouse carded a 86 with a 41 on the front nine.
Eryn Murray finished with a 92, and Emma Snell fired a 95.
Paige Laingen tallied a 103, and Miranda Roemer finished with a 114.
Rock Falls Invite
The Lady Leafs won the Rock Falls Invite Class A title, and Cheek earned medalist honors at Rock River Country Club, in Rock Falls on Aug. 18.
Geneseo fired an outstanding 339 team score to hold off Princeton for the team title, and Cheek carded a 77 to finish on top of the leaderboard.
The Leafs are off to a hot start this season putting up team scores of 350 and 339.
Geneseo’s best team score last season with a 336 at the sectional tournament.
Geneseo had four of the top five finishers at the Rock Falls tournament.
Murray was runner-up with an 83, and Snell carded an 87 to finish in third place.
Roodhouse completed the Lady Leafs top four with a fifth-place finish with a 92.
Laingen came to the clubhouse with a 98, and Rachel Vondra finished with a 112.
The Leafs next rounds will be at the Prophetstown Triangular at Deer Valley Golf Course, in Deer Grove, on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
