Maple Leafs' Winchell on a roll

The Maple Leafs golf team hosted a pair of duals and finished eighth at the Geneseo Invitational.

The Pioneers defeated the Maple Leafs 154-169 at Sugar Maple Golf Club on Aug. 22.
Alleman’s Ryan Rochholz earned medalist honors with a two-under-par 34, and Seth Winchell fired the Maple Leafs’ low round with a 38, notching two birdies.
Geneseo’s Derek Johnsen had a solid round of 40, and Danny Ford finished with a 45.
Ty Johnson carded a 46, and Zach Henderson finished with a 47.
Kaden Rink rounded out the varsity scores with a 50.
Geneseo’s Colton Garcia had a great day leading the JV scores with a 44, and Ian Phillips was a stroke back with a 45.
Chase VanKlaveren tallied a 47, and Tim Lehman finished with a 48.
Shane Lievens added a 52, and Aaron Mathews finished with a 55.
Ottawa at Geneseo
The Maple Leafs dominated Ottawa for a 168-217 victory at Sugar Maple Golf Club on Aug. 23.
Winchell nabbed medalist honors with a 40 with seven pars in the round
Derek Johnsen and Ty Johnson each finished with a 42, and Ford, Henderson and Chase VanKlaveren each shot a 44.
Rink carded a 45, and Garcia finished with a 55.
In the frosh/soph competition, Geneseo’s Mason Steinert earned medalist honors, but Geneseo was edged by Ottawa 213-217.
Chase Stephens fired a 56, and Brayden Williamson finished with a 57.
Andrew Thoene added a 59, and Clayton Baum finished with a 66.
Geneseo Invite
The Maple Leafs’ Winchell finished 14th with a 78, and Geneseo finished eighth in the team competition at Sugar Maple Golf Club on Aug. 25.
Henderson carded an 83, and Ty Johnson finished with an 85.
Rink fired an 86, Ford finished with an 88, and Derek Johnson finished with a 92.
The Maple Leafs next rounds will be at the Rock Falls Invite at Rock River Country Club, Rock Falls, on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 8 a.m.
