Lady Leafs are Geneseo Invite champs

Jenna Cheek finished runner-up individually with an 85 at the Geneseo Invitational at Sugar Maple Golf Club. The Lady Leafs won the home invite for the first time in school history.

The Lady Leafs’ girls golf team won the Geneseo Invitational for the first time, added a win at the Rock Island Triangular, and competed at the Erie Triangular.

Rock Island Triangular

The Lady Leafs coasted to the team title at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island on Sept. 12.

Geneseo shot at 168 team score, and Jenna Cheek earned medalist honors with a 37.

The Leafs’ Eryn Murray and Emma Snell each shot 42, and Elizabeth Roodhouse finished with a 47.

Geneseo’s Eleni Andrios carded a 50, and Rachel Vondra finished with a 53.

Geneseo’s JV team finished with a 210 team score, and Keely Nguyen and Elizabeth Maciejewski each shot a 51 for the Leafs’ low round.

The Leafs’ Hannah Mays fired a 52, and Paige Laingen finished with a 56.

Geneseo’s Miranda Roemer tacked on a 58, and Audrey Toone finished with a 62.

Geneseo Invitational

The Lady Leafs won the team title for the first time in school history at Sugar Maple Golf Club on Sept. 15. Geneseo finished with a 355 team score holding off runner-up Princeton for the title and finished with four players in the top 10.

Sherrard’s Nikki Schmitt fired a 78 to win individual medalist, and Geneseo’s Cheek finished runner-up with an 85.

The Leafs’ Snell carded an 88 to finish fourth, and Murray came in sixth with an 89.

Geneseo’s Roodhouse finished 10th with a 93, and Nguyen finished with a 98.

The Leafs’ Jenah Hart rounded out the varsity scores with a 106.

The Geneseo JV team finished with a 460 team score.

The Leafs’ Laingen fired a 102, and Roemer finished with 112.

Geneseo’s Toone carded a 118, Sarah Sebastian finished with a 128, and Hannah Mays added a 136.

Erie Triangular

The Lady Leafs won the team title with another strong showing at Erie Golf Club on Sept. 17.

Geneseo finished with a team score of 174 to hold off runner-up Erie/Prophetstown 208 with Galesburg finishing with a 243.

Cheek earned medalist honors with a 38, and Murray finished with a 44.

Roodhouse carded a 45, and Snell finished with a 47.

Laingen came to the clubhouse with a 54, and Keeley Nguyen finished with a 55.

The Lady Leafs finished with a 215 team score, and Roemer finished with Geneseo’s low round with a 49.

Andrios carded a 51, and Hart finished with a 56.

The Leafs’ Maciejewski added a 59, Audrey Toone tallied a 62 and Jordan VanHoutte finished with a 60.

The Lady Leafs next rounds will be at the Galesburg Invite at Bunker Links, in Galesburg, on Saturday, Sept. 22.
