Maple Leafs' golfers dominate Sterling

The Geneseo boys’ golf team finished runner-up at the Galesburg Triangular, defeated Sterling in a dual and competed at the Dragon Classic Invite

Galesburg Triangular

The Maple Leafs finished runner-up to Alleman at the Galesburg Triangular on Sept. 12.

The Pioneers won the team title with a 152, and Geneseo finished second with a 162 and Galesburg was third with a 168.

Alleman’s Ryan Rochholz earned medalist honors with a 34, and Geneseo’s Danny Ford and Seth Winchell each finished with a score of 39.

The Leafs’ Kaden Rink fired a 41, and Ty Johnson finished with a 43.

Geneseo’s Zach Henderson finished with a 51.

Sterling at Geneseo

The Maple Leafs dominated the Golden Warriors at Sugar Maple Golf Club on Sept. 13

Geneseo cruised to a 158-195 victory over Sterling, and Winchell earned medalist honors with a 35.

Ty Johnson fired a 42, followed by Colton Garcia finished with a 43.

Zach Henderson added a 46, and Shane Lievens finished with a 47.

Geneseo’s JV team strung together a solid team score of 182.

Timmy Lehman fired the low round for the Leafs with a 41, and Mason Steinert finished with a 43.

The Leafs’ Ian Phillips and Chase VanKlaveren each shot a 49, and Aaron Matthews finished with a 56.

Dragon Classic Invite

The Maple Leafs finished 11th at the invite held at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin on Sept. 15.

Geneseo finished with a team score of 341, and Normal U-High earned the team trophy with a 309.

Winchell fired the low round for the Maple Leafs with an 81, and Ford finished with an 83.

Henderson carded an 89, and Rink finished with a 91.

Ty Johnson put together a round of 94, and Derek Johnson finished with a 95.

Geneseo’s next rounds will be on the road at the Canton Invitational held at Wee Ma Tuk Country Club, in Cuba, on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 8:30 a.m.
