Maple Leafs stay unbeaten in NIB 12 dual matches

The Geneseo boys’ golf team moved to 4-0 in NIB 12 West conference play and finished third at the Canton Invitational.

Geneseo at LaSalle-Peru

The Maple Leafs defeated LaSalle-Peru 153-160 at Oakridge Golf Course in LaSalle on Sept. 18.

Ty Johnson earned medalist honors on a card back with a 37, and Danny Ford was runner-up with a 37.

Geneseo’s Seth Winchell fired a 39, and Zach Henderson finished with a 40.

Kaden Rink was a stroke back with a 41, and Shane Lievens finished with a 43.

Derek Johnson carded a 44, and Colton Garcia finished with a 47.

Geneseo’s JV team was led by medalist Mason Steinert who fired a 42.

Chase Stephens had a solid round with a 47, and Brayden Williamsen finished with a 54.

Clayton Baum carded a 56, and Andrew Thoene finished with a 56.

Canton Invitational

The Maple Leafs finished third in the team standings and Ford finished fourth overall with a 73 at Wee Ma Tuk Country Club on Sept. 22.

Henderson carded a solid round of 80, and Winchell finished with 82.

Geneseo’s Derek Johnson rounded out Geneseo’s team score with an 84.

Rink tallied 94, and Ty Johnson finished with a 99.
