Maple Leafs hold off Cavs

The Maple Leafs earned a win against LaSalle-Peru and was defeated by Rock Island.

Geneseo at LaSalle-Peru

The Maple Leafs defeated their Northern Illinois Big 12 rival Cavaliers 2-1 at the L-P Athletic Complex on Sept. 4.

LaSalle-Peru seized an early 1-0 lead scoring on a penalty kick just a minute into the game.

However, Geneseo’s Kaleb Decker scored on a penalty kick of his own just a few minutes later to tie the game.

The Maple Leafs’ Zach Cowan scored the deciding goal.

Geneseo at Rock Island

The Maple Leafs couldn’t keep their momentum going falling 4-0 against Rocky at Almquist Field on Sept. 6.

Zach Bauer and Lucas Johns combined to stop eight shots on net in the match.

Geneseo’s next match will be Autograph Night against Ottawa at the Geneseo
