Geneseo opened the season with a victory over Orion and clashed with Dunlap.

Orion at Geneseo

The Leafs smacked three home runs on their way to a 16-3 victory in the season opener at the JF Edwards Complex on March 18.

Briley Koberlein, Caitlin Gilmore and Anna McAvoy each went deep for Geneseo, and the Lady Leafs tallied 13 hits in the game.

Geneseo scored eight runs in the second inning highlighted by Koberlein’s grand slam home run.

McAvoy drove in four runs on four hits including a three-run home run in the third inning.

Gilmore finished with three hits including a solo shot in the fifth inning.

Maddie Mackey had a nice return to the lineup after missing last season with a knee injury.

The Lady Leafs’ Mackey had a pair of hits and finished with three RBIs.

GHS’ Jasmine McCormick was 2-for-2 at the top of the lineup with a steal, a walk and three runs scored, and Allison Yager singled and drove in a run.

Jane Thomas earned the win in the circle allowing one run on a pair of hits with seven strikeouts.

The Lady Leafs’ Delaney Ostrowski finished the game in the circle giving up two runs on three hits over two innings with two strikeouts.

Dunlap at Geneseo

The Lady Leafs had 10 players reach base safely in the bottom of the second inning.

Geneseo drummed Dunlap 17-1 in five innings at the JF Edwards Complex on March 21.

The Lady Leafs scored 12 runs on 13 hits in the second inning and added five runs on six hits in the fourth inning against a Dunlap team they faced in the regional semifinals last season.

The Lady Leafs’ Koberlein smacked a pair of doubles and tallied three RBIs, and Stella Corgan finished with three RBIs.

McAvoy slashed three hits, and Mackey smashed two doubles.

The Leafs’ Ava Bieneman led off the lineup with two hits, two stolen bases and two RBIs.

McCormick tallied two hits and drove in a run, and Ostrowski drove in two runs.

The Leafs’ Gilmore drove in two runs on two hits including a double.

Lauren Denney, Kaitlyn McKeag, Yager and Sydney Himmelman each hit a single.

Thomas earned the win in the circle allowing one run on two hits over five innings with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Geneseo’s next game will be against Rockford Jefferson at the JF Edwards Complex on Friday, March 24 at 6 p.m.
