Geneseo at Ottawa
It was a reminder that anything can happen on the diamond.
Down to their final out, the Pirates rallied to snag a walk off 2-1 victory away from the Lady Leafs on March 28.
With Geneseo leading by one in the seventh, Ottawa’s Sloan Gayan hit a two-run triple in the seventh to give the Pirates the Nothern Illinois Big 12 West conference opener.
A two-out walk by Ottawa’s Jenna Nink was the catalyst for the rally, and Jazzy Bowman followed with a single to set the stage for Gayan’s game winner.
Geneseo was the beneficiary of a leadoff walk which led to its only run.
The Leafs’ Bieneman walked to open the sixth inning and passed ball allowed her to score the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth.
