Leafs continues to serve up defeats to conference foes

The Geneseo boys’ tennis team picked up a pair of victories in dual meet matches.

LaSalle-Peru at Geneseo

The Maple Leafs swept the Cavaliers 5-0 at the Richmond Hill courts on April 14.

Geneseo’s Avery Dunker fought off a rally in the No. 1 singles match for a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory.

The Leafs’ top doubles team of Ben Rowley and Trace Johnson earned a win with a second-set tiebreaker 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

A. J. Miller and Will Chaney rebounded after losing the first set, 1-6.

The Leafs’ duo turned the tide for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Ethan Pullman and Mick Haverland closed out a victory with a second-set tiebreaker 6-0, 7-7 (7-5).

The Leafs’ JV continued the team’s winning ways with a 5-0 victory.

In singles, Scott Miller earned a 8-1 win at the No. 1 spot, and Ben Ford cruised to an 8-0 victory.

Geneseo’s Nathan Curran and Patrick Turpin won the No. 1 doubles match, 8-4.

Brandon Gallagher and Dylan Hart worked for an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles for Geneseo.

The Leafs’ Josh Beeth and Luke Chaney finished the night with a 8-2 win.

Galesburg at Geneseo

The Leafs earned a non-conference dual match win against Galesburg 4-1 on April 18 in Geneseo.

Geneseo put together an impressive performance against the Silver Streak competitors the Leafs will face in the sectional tournament at the end of May.

Pullman earned a victory at No. 1 singles for Geneseo 6-4, 6-4, and Darin nabbed a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.

Geneseo’s Rowley and Johnson notched a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles.

The Leafs’ Dunker and Haverland won the No. 3 doubles’ match 6-2, 6-2.

In the No. 2 doubles match, Miller and Chaney were defeated 6-3, 7-6.

The Leafs’ next matches will be at the Pleasant Valley Invitational on Saturday, April 23 at 9 a.m.
