Lady Leafs have a new home court advantage

The Lady Leafs’ tennis team started the NIB 12 dual meet season with matches against Kaneland and Rochelle.

The Lady Leafs fell 5-0 against one of the most talented and experienced teams in the NIB 12 Conference on Aug. 30.

Kaneland swept both of the singles matches 6-0, 6-0, and Geneseo managed to push the Knights in doubles competition.

Geneseo’s Mary Thomas and Emma Dunker were defeated 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

The Lady Leafs’ Ava Bieneman and Alli Miller forced a third set in No. 2 doubles but fell 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

Geneseo’s Alli Craig and Kaitlyn Webster were defeated 7-5, 6-2.

Rochelle at Geneseo

The Lady Leafs swept Rochelle to open the new Geneseo High School tennis courts on Sept. 4.

Allison Bowers won the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-0, and Emily Henson won the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-1.

Geneseo’s Dunker and Thomas powered their way to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles.

The Leafs’ Alli Miller and Ava Bieneman cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, and Ali Craig and Kaitlyn Webster earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Geneseo’s frosh/soph team made it a clean sweep on the new tennis courts.

The Leafs’ Emily Roberts won her singles match 6-0, 6-1, and Kat Eilers earned a win in singles with a 6-0, 6-2 final.

Emma Clays and Chloe Adams tallied a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the top frosh/soph doubles match.

Emma Slaymaker and Henna Griffin picked up a 6-0, 6-1 doubles win, and Anne Turpin and Ali Rapps finished off the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
