Lady Leafs down Foxes in dual on the courts

The Lady Leafs’ tennis team lost a tough match against Sterling, swept Kewanee and edged Yorkville.

Sterling at Geneseo

The Lady Leafs were defeated 3-2 against the Golden Warriors in Geneseo on Sept. 11.

Sterling won a pair of singles matches and own the No. 1 doubles match to edge the Lady Leafs.

Geneseo’s Alli Miller and Ava Bieneman earned a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

The Leafs’ Ali Craig and Kaitlyn Webster scored a 7-5, 6-4.

The Geneseo frosh/soph team earned a 4-1 victory over Sterling.

Emily Roberts earned a victory in the No. 1 singles match with a 6-2, 6-3 win, while Emma Clays and Chloe Adams won the top doubles match 6-3, 6-0.

The Leafs’ Emma Slaymaker and Henna Griffin won a 6-2, 6-0 doubles match, and Anne Turpin and Ali Rapps won their match 6-0, 6-1.

Geneseo at Kewanee

The Lady Leafs swept Kewanee 9-0 in Kewanee on Sept. 12.

Emma Dunker won the top singles match 6-0, 6-1, and Alli Miller earned a 6-3, 6-4 singles victory.

Geneseo’s Alison Bowers picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win, and Adams cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in singles.

Geneseo’s Emily Henson won her singles match 6-0, 6-0, and Ava Bieneman picked up a 6-0, 6-0.

Dunker and Thomas earned a 6-4, 6-2 win in the top doubles match, and Alli Miller and Bieneman tacked on a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Craig and Webster finished with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Geneseo at Yorkville

The Lady Leafs scored a 3-2 victory over Yorkville by sweeping the doubles matches on Sept. 13.

Dunker and Thomas earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory, and Bieneman and Alli Miller notched a 6-4, 6-1.

Geneseo’s Webster and Craig scored a 6-1, 6-1 win.

Galesburg Invite

The Lady Leafs finished tied for third place with five medalists in Galesburg on Sept. 15.

Thomas and Miller finished runner-up in the No. 2 doubles bracket, and Geneseo’s Lexee Hodge finished third in the No. 2 singles bracket.
