Lady Leafs are hitting their stride on the track

The Geneseo girls’ track team won the Sherrard Quadrangular and competed in the Rock Island ABC Invitational.

The Lady Leafs were the team champions among the four-teams in competition in Sherrard on April 12.

A Geneseo sophomore,  Reece Bodeen was a two-time winner in the meet.

Bodeen won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.19 for the Leafs, and she added a win in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.32.

Geneseo’s Adia Raya was the champion of the 3200 run in 14:20.2, and the Leafs’ Grace Madigan won the triple jump title with a mark of 32’5”.

Katherine Beeson was the winner of the discus with a throw of 95’8” for Geneseo, and Shalana Atwell earned the pole vault crown clearing 8’.

The Leafs’ Erika Furbeck landed runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 17’2.5”.

Geneseo’s Dani Clary finished second in the high jump clearing 4’10”, and she added a second-place finish in the 200 dash with a time of (28.7).

A freshman, Geneseo’s Isabella Mitchell raced to a second-place finish in the 100 dash in 14.13. 

Another Leafs’ freshman, Alexandria Horne finished runner up in the 400 dash clocking in with a time of 1:04.0.

Geneseo’s Emma Alexander took third in the 1600 run (6:14.8).

The Lady Leafs’ relay teams landed several second-place finishes.

In the 4x100 relay, Geneseo’s team of Bodeen, Lynsey Gradert, Julia Poel and Furbeck finished in second place with a time of 52.5.

Geneseo’s 4x200-relay crew of Clary, Rebekah Beard, Poel and Furbeck finished second clocking in at 1:52.1.

The Leafs added a runner-up finish in the 4x400 relay (Beard, Madigan, Horne, Poel) finishing in 4:25.7.

Rock Island ABC Invitational

The Lady Leafs came in seventh place as a team against a talented field a of 15 teams in Rock Island on April 16. 

Geneseo’s Bodeen flew to a win in the A 300 hurdles finishing in 48.4, and the sophomore added a second-place finish in the A 100 hurdles clocking in at 15.6. 

Furbeck outdistanced the field in the A division long jump competition reaching a mark of 18’1”. 

A sophomore, Furbeck continued to add to her big day. 

She raced to a fourth-place finish in the A 100 dash in 12.5, and Furbeck tacked on a fourth-place finish in the A 200 dash with a time of 26.6. 

The Leafs’ Poel grabbed a fourth-place finish in the A 400 dash with a time of 1:03.1. 

Beeson had a throw of 95’2” earning her a sixth-place finish in the A discus throw for the Leafs.

Geneseo’s Clary finished seventh in the A high jump with a mark of 4’10”.

In the A 800 run, Geneseo’s Veronica Eilers came in ninth place clocking in at 2:52.8. 

Madigan earned a ninth-place finish in the A triple jump reaching a mark of 30’9”. 

The Geneseo 4x400–relay team of Poel, Beard, Horne and Bodeen finished fifth in the A division race with a time of 4:16.8. 

Horne raced to a third-place finish in the B 400 dash in 1:03.3 for Geneseo, and she added a runner up finish in the C high jump clearing 4’10”.

The Leafs’ Beard nabbed third place in the B triple jump with a mark of 31’10”.

Gradert earned a runner up finish in the 200 dash clocking in at 29.3. 

The Lady Leafs’ next meet will be as hosts of the Geneseo Invitational on Friday, April 22 starting at 4:30 p.m.
