Maple Leafs have a relay good showing at Top Times

The Maple Leafs’ 4x400- and 4x800-meter relay teams finished in the top five at the invite among the state’s best. Geneseo’s relay teams proved they hadn’t lost a step at the Illinois Top Times Invite at the Illinois Wesleyan Shirk Center on March 25.

The Maple Leafs’ 4x800-meter relay crew of Nick Swartzendruber, Andrew Benhart, Nathan Soria and Cayson Frerichs ran down a third-place finish in 8:09.9.

Geneseo’s 4x400 relay team of Swartzendruber, Frerichs, Soria and Reed Vanderheyden came in fourth place with a time of 3:32.6.

Vanderheyden raced to a sixth place time of 8.48 in the 60 hurdles final.

The Leafs’ Colton Pischke had a nice showing taking 14th in the 60 hurdles prelims with a time of 8.73.
