A Mansfield man was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation after he was charged in the murder of his daughter.

A Mansfield man was arrested Friday and charged with the murder of his 6-year-old daughter.

Police say Kristopher Griffin, 35, slit the throat of his daughter, Kaitlynn Griffin, 6, early Friday morning.

Griffin, who was arraigned at Taunton District Court Friday afternoon, was ordered held without bail at Bridgewater State and to undergo a psychological evaluation for competence to stand trial and responsibility.

Kaitlynn Griffin, 6, was found dead at 4:05 a.m. when police responded to 93 Chilson Ave., a release from Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter said.

Kristopher Griffin, of that address, was arrested shortly thereafter and charged with murder, according to the Bristol County district attorney’s office.

He next is scheduled to appear in Attleboro District Court on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
