A Marshfield man faces charges he was drunk when he struck a bicyclist with his pickup truck, killing the man.
Gary W. Sanborn, 60, of 244 Webster St., Marshfield, was riding along Route 139 at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by the truck. Police said Sanborn was under the truck when they arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Adrian D. MacKinnon, 44, of 111 South River St., Marshfield, was charged with motor vehicle homicide by while driving drunk.
MacKinnon told police that Sanborn had ridden his bike in front of his truck at 1079 Ocean Street (Route 139) and that he could not avoid hitting him, according to documents filed in Plymouth District Court.
Police said they could smell alcohol on MacKinnon who denied that he had been drinking, and refused a field sobriety test.
